I first visited China Buffet & Sushi Bar expecting a typical buffet, yet it quickly turned into a much broader experience. The space is large, the food selection stretches across multiple stations, and there’s a steady flow of guests moving from one section to another, plates in hand. It feels like a place built for variety and choice rather than a single signature dish.
Located along Hardy Street in Hattiesburg, this restaurant has become a popular stop for anyone craving Asian cuisine in a casual, all you ca eat format. It serves both lunch and dinner, drawing in families, students, and groups who want a relaxed dining experience with plenty of options. The buffet concept is the main attraction, offering a wide selection of Chinese dishes along with sushi and a few American-style items, making it accessible for different tastes.
What stood out right away was the scale of the buffet. With dozens of dishes available at any time, it’s easy to build a plate that mixes flavors and textures. From stir fried classics to fried favorites, everything is laid out for quick access. There’s also a dedicated sushi bar, which adds a fresh element to the overall experience and tends to attract a lot of attention from guests.
During my visit, the orange chicken and sesame chicken were clear crowd favorites. Both offer that familiar balance of crispy texture and sweet savory sauce that many people look for in Chinese American cuisine. Fried shrimp adds another layer to the experience, delivering a crunchy bite that pairs well with rice or noodles. The sushi rolls bring variety, offering lighter options that contrast nicely with the heavier buffet dishes.
Another highlight is the dessert section. It’s easy to overlook at first, though it becomes hard to ignore once you see the selection of cakes, fruit, and sweet treats waiting at the end of the buffet line. It rounds out the meal in a simple, satisfying way.
The vibe leans casual and social. It’s a place where people gather in groups, share plates, and move around freely. The atmosphere feels busy during peak hours, though the large space helps keep things comfortable. Seating is flexible, which makes it suitable for both small parties and larger gatherings.
Service tends to follow the rhythm of a buffet setting. Staff members focus on clearing tables, refilling drinks, and keeping food stations stocked. Timing matters here arriving earlier in the day often means fresher dishes and a fuller selection, which many regulars prefer.
Another detail worth noting is the value. The all you can ,eat format offers a wide range of dishes at a single price, which makes it appealing for those who want variety without ordering multiple items separately.
China Buffet & Sushi Bar brings together variety, convenience, and a relaxed dining style, creating a spot where guests can explore multiple flavors in one visit.
China Buffet & Sushi Bar stands out for its wide buffet selection, fresh sushi options, and casual group friendly setting, making it a solid choice for anyone looking for variety and value in Hattiesburg.

Always a great experience with their food. Never disappointed

Coconut Shrimp tastes like sour fish, and has no sauce. The fried rice is hard rock pebbles. The soft drinks taste like sewer water, and the sweet rolls are just balls of bread.
